Rated 4 out of 5 by An American Story An excellent example of government corruption and the need for a free society and the 2nd Amendment right. This movie, based on fact, shows corruption existed years ago and current events show it exist today. A great movie, if you believe freedom is not free. August 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by An American Story My husband & I highly recommend this movie. This story could happen now days with voting and fraud going on in this government. but other than that love the story line. March 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Once Again, "The Greatest Generation!" I accidentally discovered this movie via an excerpt on YouTube. After doing an on-line search for "The Battle Of Athens" (Tennessee, where the actual event took place) and reading the actual historical markers in the town, I had to have this movie. I was very pleased to find out that it is a "Hallmark Hall of Fame" production and still available through a Hallmark store and/or Hallmark on-line. "The Greatest Generation" came through for us once again! March 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by An American Story This Hallmark produced film is based on the true story of a Kentucky town in the late forties as WWII veterans began to filter back into local life. Minority soldiers, who had largely been accepted and respected by the military and Europeans for their service during the war, realize their own town's prejudices haven't changed much during their absence. The most jaw dropping sequences in the movie, however, depict an armed insurrection that took place to forcefully remove the corrupt mayor and political machine that had brutally ruled life in the town for decades. "An American Story" should be viewed not only for it's production quality, but because it recreates a significant historical event that largely has been papered over and ignored with the passage of years and political correctness. The the events that took place in that small Kentucky town illustrate the purest intent of our Consitution's 2nd Amendment right to bear arms: the ability for citizens to protect themselves from a lawless and oppressive government. You will not see this movie aired on cable or network TV, except maybe by Hallmark cable, which produced it. Common DVD retailers like Barnes & Noble do not stock this movie. I ordered the DVD from Hallmark and my family has already watched it several times. Very worthwhile film. March 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Missing Link This is a part of history that is not taught in our schools, but it should be. However, I don't think the government wants to educate people about this particular historical event. Great acting with an inspiring message -- don't miss this movie. February 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by An American Story Fantastic movie. Particularly good because it is based on a true story! February 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by An American Story This is a well done movie and well worth watching and owning. For some reason, it has been under the radar; rarely shown even on the Hallmark channel. The Hallmark store has the best price anywhere for this DVD. Other places are trying to charge two and three times what Hallmark is asking. Don't fall for it! I liked this movie so much that I ordered a second copy for a friend of mine who has sons in the military. She and her family loved it as well. Tom Sizemore's performance is one of the best of his career. February 10, 2013
