1944. World War II. Colorado. Livy Dunne (Russell) has been thrown out of her home by her father, Rev. Dunne, because she's pregnant and unmarried. She's banished to rural Colorado, to go through with an arranged marriage to a lonely farmer, so her child will have a father. When she arrives in the tiny town, Livy and her betrothed are wary of each other. Worldly Livy is bored by Ray and the hardscrabble life he leads—despite his inherent goodness and wisdom. As the months pass, Livy learns more about this calm, practical self-effacing farmer. Slowly almost imperceptibly, Livy realizes she may have found home quite accidentally.

Hallmark did such a fine job in their film production of Ann Howard Creel's novel, The Magic of Ordinary Days. I've read the book a number of times; it's definitely a favorite. Ms. Creel's research is spot on for wartime America. Her rendering of the characters within that period is marvelous. And then to watch her characters brought to life in this movie is such a pleasure. This one is definitely a keeper.

I love this movie! It was a little more than what I wanted to pay for it but I am still glad I purchased it. Keri Russell and Skeet Ulrich are fantastic together in this movie. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who likes Hallmark movies or love stories.

I HAVE WATCHED THIS MOVIE SO MANY TIMES. IT IS A VERY MOVING MOVIE THAT GOES BACK IN TIME TO SHOW US THAT LOVE CAN SURVIVE. ALSO THAT BACK THEN THERE WAS NO TELEPHONES AND WHEN THEY DID GET THEM THEY HAD PARTY LINES, LOL. HER COOKING OF THAT BREAKFAST WAS SO TERRIBLE WITH ALL THOSE HOT PEPPERS, HE WAS KIND AND TOLD HER THAT IT TASTED GOOD. AND THEN RAN OUT AND SWALLOWED WATER TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. ALL THE CHARACTERS WERE GOOD AND THE TIMES WERE SO DIFFERENT WITH BOTH GERMAN'S AND JAPANESE PEOPLE BEING TREATED DURING THE WARS.BOTH IN DIFFERENT CAMPS. I GIVE THIS A 10 RATING.!!!!!!

The team of actors and the storyline were a wonderful combination. This is a must see/must have movie. A great rainy day or over all feel good movie.
It is not surprising it is a Hallmark movie.

Very moving and inspirational movie. Speaks of true valor/courage of a REAL MAN, who took on the role that so many other men might easily and non nonchalantly throw away. Furthermore, it speaks of the value of COMMUNITY involvement; and in this case, a woman's disposition to see beyond her own desires--most importantly the need to learn to open one's heart to TRUE LOVE and all that LIFE brings! WHAT A GREAT MOVIE--so true to life for so many people!!! Thanks HALLMARK FOR THE FINE MOVIES YOU PRODUCE!

We really liked the movie, but didn't care for the ending. I did like how she stayed married to the man. I didn't like how she never told him that she loved him, like he did with her. Would have been nice if it was a little longer and showed they they had their own children together. The scenary was really good and told about Colorado back in time. Our two daughters use to live and work in La Junta and it was nice seeing this movie start out in La Junta, Colorado and mentioned Denver CO the City. Not really sure if the two other small towns or villages even exist. The one they were married in, and another one was mentioned. Tried to look them up on a map and couldn't find them. Watched this movie three times so far, twice on t.v. and once since our purchase of the dvd.

The Magic of Ordinary Days is one of my mother's favorite Hallmark movies. She wondered where I found the dvd as she always looked through the dvds at the local Gold Crown stores. "Online, Mom."
